Ocean Tidal Flats Sandy Beach Dunes Salt Marsh
Ocean salinity, currents and tidal action keep coastal waters open in the late fall and early spring, providing habitat for seabirds that rely on coastal waters or open ocean for food.  An enclosed bay, estuary, and open ocean create habitat for migrating shorebirds and wintering marine ducks.

Ring-billed Gull
Ring-billed Gulls are common year round. Adults leave in summer to breed on inland lakes, while immature will stay on the beach year round. These gulls are attracted to beach goers offering handouts and food left behind. Too many Ring-billed Gulls could threaten nesting Piping Plovers and Least Terns.
