| Sanderlings feed and rest on Plymouth Beach from mid-summer to late spring. The Sanderlings that you see on the beach in spring and summer are migrating between wintering habitat as far south as South America and breeding grounds in the high Canadian Arctic. They use the beach as a critical feeding and resting habitat. Sanderling populations have been in steep decline for many years. Plymouth Beach is an important migratory stopover site for these birds.. |
