Join Soheil Zendeh and Dorie Stolley to search for Piping Plovers and other late winter or early spring birds on the beach and in the water. Many of our winter residents will still be around: scoters, grebes, Brant, eiders and more. There’s a chance we’ll see a Snowy Owl. We will meet at the north end of the Long Beach public parking lot at 10:00 a.m. and carpool from there to the lovely Goldenrod field station. We will walk about 2.5 miles in sand, around the tip of Long Beach, if time permits, and return to the parking lot by 1:00 p.m. or thereabouts.
You must sign up beforehand so that we have enough 4-wd vehicles to seat everyone. Fee is $15 for the general public and $7.50 for Beach Ambassadors. Please dress warmly and in layers. Remember to bring rain or wind pants to ensure your comfort!
