It’s time to reap a tasty harvest from Long Beach! Join us for a fun program picking, preparing and canning beach plum jam. You will take at least one jar home with you, probably more.
Beach plums are purple when ripe…and tasty!
These delicious fruits are from a native shrub that stabilizes the sand, provides bird habitat and offers us a treat. Beach plums don’t produce fruit reliably on an annual basis, so we are taking advantage of the large crop. Incredibly, this is the second year running that we’ve had a good crop.
We will meet at the Long Beach parking lot and carpool out to the field station. Cost is $15 and $10 for Beach Ambassadors. All materials provided. Bring an apron, if you like to wear one. There will be time to take a stroll on the beach and have tea and a snack.
