LATE-BREAKING NEWS! The Town of Plymouth just announced that they will be doing parking lot and dike repair on 5/23-5/25. No vehicles will be allowed and walking is not recommended as there will be an excavator on the beach. Please register for our 6/1 trip or, if interested in a trip this Sunday, 5/22, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., please email dss@goldenrod.org or call 508-746-0769 and leave a message. We have a few spots for Sunday left.
Late May on Long Beach means shorebird migration AND nesting Piping Plovers AND the arrival of Least and Common Terns. Join shorebird expert Soheil Zendeh and Goldenrod program manager Dorie Stolley for a delightful taste of what Long Beach has to offer. We will see plovers, terns and, with luck, numerous shorebirds, including perhaps Semipalmated Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Ruddy Turnstone, Willet, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Black-bellied Plover, Semipalmated Plover, Sanderling, Purple Sandpiper and Red Knot.
Don’t miss this chance to enjoy the beach before the crowds hit and beach driving begins!
We will meet at the north end of the Long Beach main parking area at 10 a.m. From there, we will carpool to day parking or to the Goldenrod field station on Long Beach where our walk will start. We will return to the parking lot around 2 p.m.
