Part I is a 2-hour class designed to cover all of the basics in conducting scientific shorebird surveys. Click here for more details.
Part II is a field trip on Plymouth Long Beach led by shorebird expert Brian Harrington when you can practice what you’ve learned during Part I. On August 26, we will meet at the main parking lot at Long Beach at 10:30 a.m. and carpool out to the Goldenrod field station where the field trip will begin. We will count and identify the multitudes of migrating shorebirds that we’ll find and record the information to be used in citizen science programs. This is a special opportunity to train you to participate in surveys like the International Shorebird Surveys and World Shorebirds Day. Space is limited. Preference will be given to those attending Part I. Cost is $15. Scroll down to sign up. Rain date is Tuesday, September 2 from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
