If you are a Plymouth resident and want to learn how to find, shuck and eat surf clams, those giant edible bivalves, now’s your chance! We’ll meet in the Long Beach main parking lot on August 14 at 7:00 a.m. where you will get a ride out to the Goldenrod field station. After an introduction to surf clam ecology and conservation, we will grab pitchforks and buckets and head onto the sand flats. We’ll teach you how to find and dig the clams, how to shuck them and how to cook them. And, then, of course, we will eat them! Limeade and coffee will be provided. If you prefer a different beverage, please bring it with you.
To participate, you must have a Plymouth resident’s shell-fishing license, available at Town Hall for $10 (free for seniors). Bring a flat-tined pitchfork and large bucket, if you have them. We will have some to share. Space is limited, so sign up soon! The fee for this program is $15. Scroll down to sign up.
