Arm-knittiing scarfThat’s right, knitting with your arms! No experience or knitting equipment needed to create this chunky style scarf, just the yarn of your choice. This workshop will be a fun afternoon for all – from the beginner to the experienced knitter. We will carpool to the lovely Goldenrod Foundation field station on the beach and enjoy the gorgeous views, good company, and  relaxed conversation while we each knit our own scarf.

This is the second in our three-part series on Traditional Fiber Arts, emphasizing the use of natural materials and time-honored techniques to create beautiful, functional items.

Participants will meet at the main parking lot for Plymouth Long Beach for the carpool. Please bring your lunch (coffee and tea will be provided) and either warm slippers or thick socks to wear inside the field station so you can leave your shoes at the door. If you would like to take a stroll on the beach, bring extra warm layers of clothing as the wind coming across the water can be very chilly.

We will provide yarn for an extra $15 (colors TBD) or  you can go to Michael’s and buy your own. Please indicate your choice in the registration.

Supply list:

  • Super Bulky yarn: You can use one color (approx. 160 yards needed) or two complementary colors as shown in the photo with navy and aqua blue (approx. 80 yards of each color needed for 160 yards total)
  • Tapestry needle (we will have extra)
  • Scissors (we will have extra)
